Data masking decides which roles can see a patient's phone number and e-mail address. In medical tourism its main purpose is to make walking out with the patient list harder, and to limit access to personal data to the people who genuinely need it.
Masking does not cut permissions: the user still sees the patient and still talks to them — they just do not see the contact details in the clear.
Step by step
- Press the System Settings button on the main menu. Press the Data Mask button underneath.
- In this area, you can select the privacy options available in the system for your customer and choose in which roles you prefer it to be processed. You can complete your process by selecting both the role and the options such as e-mail or phone number if you want the users in the system to not see the customer information.
Tips and common mistakes
- Tip Masking also hides a phone number or e-mail address embedded in the patient's name. Records opened automatically by a channel often carry the number as the name, so they show as
WhatsApp:+90*******67— that is expected. - Careful With the "phone numbers / e-mail addresses in outgoing messages" settings on, users in that role cannot type a number into a message body or an e-mail subject; the system stops the send and warns. Templates, automations and bulk messages are exempt.
- Tip Masking in an e-mail subject only affects what you see in the panel; the real e-mail that reaches the patient always carries the unmasked subject.
Frequently asked questions
How do I call a masked number?
Dial from the panel through the call centre integration — calling without seeing the number is possible, and that is exactly the point of masking.
Who is unaffected by masking?
Admin and Moderator bypass every visibility filter. Design masking for the roles below them.
Will editing a masked name corrupt the original?
No. Saving without touching the masked name leaves the original intact. Once you know the real name, type it normally and save.
