CRM for Bariatric Surgery Clinics

Elsewhere follow-up is measured in months; here in years. The first two post-operative years are both a clinical duty and a reputation matter.

Where it breaks down

Bariatric surgery has the longest post-operative follow-up in medical tourism: nutrition, vitamin supplementation, weight trajectory and psychological adjustment are tracked for years. It also carries some of the strictest eligibility criteria — BMI, comorbidities, previous interventions.

  • Eligibility is discovered late. Without asking BMI, age and comorbidities early, both the enquirer and the clinic lose time.
  • The preparation list is scattered. Endoscopy, cardiology and anaesthesia clearance get tracked in different places.
  • Long-term follow-up does not happen. A patient not contacted after month six discusses a complication or weight regain at another clinic.
  • Reviews only reflect month one. Satisfaction settles at months 12-24; with no contact then, the strongest referral moment is missed.

The patient journey

  1. First contact

Height, weight, BMI, comorbidities and previous interventions captured as fields.

  2. Eligibility screening

Candidates outside criteria are told early and politely; the reason is tagged.

  3. Tests and clearances

Endoscopy, cardiology, anaesthesia and any consultations as a checklist.

  4. Surgery coordination

Date, travel, companion, accommodation and payment plan.

  5. Discharge

Nutrition protocol, vitamin plan and first check-up date.

  6. Month 1 / 3 / 6 / 12 / 24

Weight trajectory, laboratory follow-up and psychological adjustment checks.

What MetoCRM does here

The long calendar lives in the system. Checkpoints spanning 24 months open as reminders instead of depending on memory or a spreadsheet tab.

Preparation collects into one list. Which clearance arrived and which is awaited stays visible on the record, and the surgery date is set against that list.

Eligibility filters early. Asking BMI and comorbidity fields in the first qualification step protects both the enquirer and the team.

Frequently asked questions

Does anyone actually complete two years of follow-up?

Most clinics stop between months one and three. Completion rises markedly when checkpoints are defined in the system — the issue is rarely intent, it is whose screen the reminder lands on.

Can we record weight and laboratory values?

Custom fields can be defined on follow-up steps. MetoCRM is not a clinical record system; the goal is tracking the trajectory and managing contact points, not replacing a hospital information system.

Which channel is used for remote follow-up?

Mostly WhatsApp — the channel the patient already uses. Approved templates over the official API make it possible to send check-up reminders even when the 24-hour window is closed.
