Data Mask is one of the modules in MetoCRM, the medical tourism CRM built for clinics and health tourism agencies. The sections below cover what it does in day-to-day work.
Patient lists walk out of clinics
The most valuable asset a health tourism business owns is its patient database, and the most common way it is lost is not a hack — it is a consultant leaving with a copy of the numbers. In a market where competitors recruit each other's staff, that risk is ordinary rather than exceptional.
Data masking addresses it without slowing anyone down. Patient names, phone numbers and email addresses can be hidden from the users who do not need to see them, while those users continue to run conversations, prepare offers and close sales exactly as before.
- Hide patient names, numbers and email addresses from chosen roles
- Conversations and messaging continue without revealing contact details
- Enable masking on any role in the system you choose
- Protect the database without obstructing the sales process
- Reduce what is exposed if an account is compromised
Role-based, so it fits how you actually work
Masking everything for everyone would break a clinic. The point is that different roles need different visibility: a consultant handling a live conversation may not need the raw phone number at all, while a coordinator arranging a transfer does.
Because masking is applied by role, you decide where the line sits — see user roles for how roles are defined, and data masking for the module itself. Reviewed together with user groups, it is the simplest meaningful control most clinics can put in place.
Deciding your policy
Start from the question of who genuinely needs to be able to contact a patient outside the system. In most clinics that list is much shorter than the list of people who currently can.
Masking is not a substitute for the rest of your data protection obligations, but it does reduce the practical exposure — both from departing staff and from an account that gets compromised.
Frequently asked questions
No. Conversations, messaging and sales continue as normal; what changes is that contact details are not displayed to roles you have chosen to mask. The workflow inside the system is unaffected.
Yes. Masking is applied by role, so you can mask a large sales team while leaving coordinators or managers with full visibility where the job genuinely requires it.
It is one useful control, not a compliance programme. Masking reduces who can see and copy patient contact details, but your obligations around consent, storage and patient rights still need to be handled properly.
