How to open a laboratory request
Sending work to a dental laboratory: defining laboratories, opening a request, doctor and laboratory notes, cancellation and status tracking.
Where to find it
Laboratories ManagementLaboratory Requests
In dental and prosthetics-led clinics part of the work happens in a laboratory rather than the clinic. Run that over WhatsApp and phone calls and two things go missing: which patient's work is at which stage, and what was actually agreed with the lab.
In MetoCRM Laboratories Management covers three screens: Laboratory Requests, Laboratories (the lab records) and Laboratory Statuses.
Before you start
- The laboratory must exist on the Laboratories screen with its Name, Address, Phone, Email, Authorized contact, Branch, Status and a password if needed.
- The statuses that match your workflow must exist on Laboratory Statuses.
Step by step
- Open a new request from the Laboratory Requests screen.
- Choose the Patient and the Laboratory — who the request belongs to and where it is going.
- Attach impressions, photographs and X-rays under Files. They stay on the patient record.
- Write the clinician's instruction in Doctor Note; the lab answers in Laboratory Note.
- Track progress through Status. If the job is cancelled, the reason goes in Doctor Cancel Note or Laboratory Cancel Note depending on who cancelled it.
Tips and common mistakes
- Tip Keeping doctor and laboratory cancellation notes separate is deliberate: when a job falls through, the two sides rarely give the same reason.
- Careful Documents sent to a laboratory are medical data. When granting lab users access, weigh role scope and data masking together.
- Tip Some of these screens still carry English labels in the Turkish panel. When training the team, use the label they will see on screen.
Frequently asked questions
Can the laboratory sign into the panel?
The laboratory record has authorized-contact and password fields; design the access model alongside roles and permissions.
Can I define my own statuses?
Yes, on the Laboratory Statuses screen, to match your workflow.
Does the request show on the patient card?
The request belongs to the patient; anyone who can see the patient and holds the relevant permission can see it.
